Get your own web address

The first step to having your own website is getting your own web address. A web address will let other people find your website by typing your web address in their web browser.

What's really cool is that you can get a web address for free! There's a fantastic website called Neocities that lets you register a web address. It also has tools that help you build your website from inside Neocities. Yay!!

Here's what you'll need to do.

• Go to Neocities.org. You'll see a form where you'll sign up for your Neocities web address.

  

• When you get to the payment screen, just click "Continue" on the free plan.

  

• Now you have a Neocities account! Neocities has a lot of features, but the one to notice here is the "Start Building" button. This button will take you to your website's dashboard, where you can start editing your website.

  

• Your dashboard is a list of all the files in your website, a place to edit your website files, and a link to your own web address!
